GIZ-SCPOPP Thailand has recorded an impressive feat from the training report shared. As of 31 December 2020, they had organised 123 number of training; inclusive of 9 Training of Trainers (ToT) and 114 Smallholder Training. With this, they have trained a total of 6,139 participants in Krabi, Surat Thani and Chumphon.
Thitinai, Master Trainer from GIZ-SCPOPP, shared that the trainers trained by him has actively assisted in training smallholders, allowing them to achieve the total of 6,139 participants trained over the time span of 4 months in 3 provinces - Krabi, Surat Thani and Chumphon. He also mentioned that in the 3 provinces, there are about 250 trainers; varying from government officers to lead farmers. Besides trainers from GIZ-SCPOPP, there are 38 Master Trainers are from the Department of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural extension and GIZ (with 2 consultants from their local university).
These trainers trained by Thitinai, will then provide training to the smallholders on materials related to the smallholder and group training guide on differing topics such as benefits being in a sustainability group, harvesting, the palm oil market and legal responsibilities. Thitinai, further shared that the reason why they were able to provide training to such an extensive number of smallholders is partly due to the collaboration with local government.
