On the 14th February 2020, our partner, Wild Asia conducted a 2 days Training of Trainers (ToT) programme in their office based in Sandakan, Sabah. The training was attended by 16 participants with 3 female participants, all whom are Wild Asia staff. The training incorporated the parts of the Smallholder Training Guide, Group Training Guide and Programme Design Guide.
Wild Asia Trainers covered an extensive topic areas from the Smallholder Guide (13 sections) ranging from Group membership, SOPs and ICS, Harvesting, Weed Management, Fertiliser Selection, Additional Livelihoods, My Land - HCV Assessment, The Environment, What Makes My Farm Sustainable, Waste Management, Health and Safety Plans, Mock Audit and Commitment to Continuing Improvement.
As for the Group Guide, the training highlighted topics such as Introductions and Goal Setting, Understanding the Group’s goal: Sustainability, Increasing Livelihoods, and Engaging with RSPO, Managing a Group: Responsibilities and Requirements, Internal Control System, Practical Exercises.
Part of the Programme Design Guide was also included as part of the training to provide participants information regarding subject areas of Obtaining Certification, Planning Your Smallholder Programme, Developing Your Monitoring and Evaluation Approach.
