First Series of Academy Master Trainings

The RSPO Smallholder Trainer Academy is holding its first series of Academy Master Trainings from August until December 2019, aiming to train over 70 experienced trainers from organisations across regions and sectors.

The participants of the Master Trainings are being trained in the use and active learning training methods of the Academy Training Guides: the Smallholder Training Guide, the Group Training Guide, and the Programme Design Guide. After the Master Training, they are not only able to train smallholders and group managers / organisers but will be able to train other trainers in the use of the Academy Training Guides as well.

Two Master Trainings have already taken place in Indonesia: in Medan (26-31 August 2019) and Banda Aceh (1-6 October 2019). Two more will take place in Africa and Latin America: in Accra, Ghana (22-28 November 2019) and in Santa Marta, Colombia (2-7 December 2019). 

Indonesia: Medan and Banda Aceh (South East Asia)

The first ever Academy Master Training in Medan, Indonesia, was kindly hosted by Musim Mas at their Medan Industrial Area (KIM II). The Master Training brought together a total of 18 participants from 7 partner organisations, the majority of whom became Academy Master Trainers. While the majority of participants were Malaysian, several were from Indonesia, Thailand, and Colombia. Read more here. 

The second Master Training took place in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, upon the requests from local partners in Indonesia. The Master Training, held fully in Bahasa Indonesia had a total of 21 participants from 10 partner organisations. One of the Senior Master Trainers giving the training was Rukaiyah Rafik (Fortasbi), who successfully applied her skills and experiences gained during the first Master Training in Medan! Ghana: Accra (Africa)

The third Master Training will be held in collaboration with Solidaridad West-Africa and aims to bring together trainers from across the different sectors and oil palm producing countries in the region. Interested? Reach out to sta@rspo.org.
